Our History

A Legacy of Inclusion & Resilience

Founded in 1910 by nine New York City teenagers as Phi Sigma Beta, Tau Delta Phi was created out of a desire for fraternal connection at a time when membership was denied to many because of their religious background.

Driven by those early principles of inclusion, Tau Delta Phi became the first NIC fraternity in the 1940s to welcome members of all races, creeds, and ethnic origins, advocating integration two decades before the height of the civil rights movement.

1966 & 1978

Brought to the Philippines in 1966 and reactivated on October 13, 1978, by Supreme Master Adrian Fontecha Tampus and Supreme Mistress Velma Abrahan Tarrant.
